Week 2: Introduction to the Internet and Issues in Media and Technology
Week 2: My Reflection on Introduction to the Internet and
Issues in Media and Technology
Storage Device:
How do you want learners to participate?
By Class Seating:
1. U-shape which allows the teachers to interact with
everyone.
2. Group
3. Combination structure - which is more than one seating
arrangement in a classroom.
When making rules for your classroom:
1. When creating rules for your classroom make only 3-5
rules for younger children and 5-8 rules for older children.
2. Involve your students in classroom rules.
3. Write positive rules (refrain from using don't, no, avoid
and never)
4. Write rules to target specific behaviours
5. Use always appropriately terms
6. Shorter the rule the better and clearer it is to
understand.
Netiquette is the correct or acceptable way of using the
Internet.
Email messages distributed by electronic means
from one computer user to one or more recipients via a network. Email is
personal communication to one another.
What are the rules of netiquette in sending a email:
1. Greeting and address (Good Morning Mr/Ms/Mrs)
2. Closure
3. Check for proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
4. Make sure that context is appropriate to the subject
5. Acknowledgment of receiving emails
6. Watch your tone of voice (example: all caps and bold)
7. Signature
8. Appropriate email address (sexybody@gmail.com)
What is Digital Native vs Immigrate:
Digital Native to me means you have a grasp of knowledge of technology
Digital Immigrate means to me that you have to learn
about using technology
My research on what is Digital Native and Immigrate:
Digital Native is a person born or brought up during the age of digital technology and so familiar with computers and the Internet from an early age.
Digital Immigrate is a person born or brought up before the widespread use of digital technology.
I have learned that anyone that is a digital immigrate can
become a digital native and also you can be a digital native and a immigrate,
how is that possible you may know things of technology but may not know
everything.
What is Asynchronous vs Synchronous Communication:
Asynchronous communication is the exchange of
messages, such as among the hosts on a network or devices in a computer, by
reading and responding as schedules permit rather than according to some clock
that is synchronized for both the sender and receiver or in real time.
Synchronous communication is the data transfer
method in which sent (upstream) and received (downstream) data flows at the
same speed, and is spaced by timing signals.
We also look at Advance Search, bookmarking , creative
commons, virus, malware and antivirus.
Bookmarking record the address of a website,
file, etc. to enable quick access in future.
Virus is a piece of code which is capable of
copying itself and typically has a detrimental effect, such as corrupting the
system or destroying data.
Malware is a software which is specifically
designed to disrupt, damage or gain authorized access to a computer system.
Antivirus is a software designed to detect and
destroy computer viruses. It is good to have a antivirus on your devices to
protect them from viruses.
